The latest data: The shipment of each mainboard manufacturer in mainland China h

2024-07-03

March saw an increase, while April experienced a decline, with significant fluctuations in the mainboard market.

Recently, BoBanTang compiled the shipment data for various mainboard brand manufacturers in the Chinese mainland region for April 2024, showing a decrease of about 18% compared to March this year, and an increase of about 17% compared to April 2023. It is understood that the overall shipment targets for April were relatively average, with a significant decline in shipments both online and offline, and most brands performed poorly.

Looking at individual mainboard brand manufacturers, the top eight are ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Colorful, Maxsun, Onda, Shenqi, and Soltek. The shipment volumes of the leading manufacturers all decreased to varying degrees, with only Shenqi and Soltek showing growth. There were basically no changes in the rankings, with the only change being Soltek replacing Biostar and returning to eighth place.

Although the shipment volume decreased significantly month-on-month, ASUS is still in the first place, with the gap between the first and second place narrowing; Gigabyte is in the second place, with a smaller month-on-month decrease, closing the gap with the top spot; MSI is in the third place, with the smallest month-on-month decrease among the top few; Colorful is in the fourth place, maintaining the gap with MSI; Maxsun is in the fifth place, with a relatively stable position, and there will be no significant changes; Onda is in the sixth place, and the brands behind it do not pose a significant threat for the time being; Shenqi and Soltek are ranked seventh and eighth respectively, with an increase in shipment volumes month-on-month, but there is a significant gap with Onda.

In summary, the mainboard brand manufacturers lacked momentum in shipments in April, mainly due to the second half of the month, but there was a relatively good performance in the netbar order. After entering the second quarter, offline channel sales are more difficult, and there will be promotions in May and June, but it is expected that the sales volume will not see a significant improvement, and channel merchants will find it more difficult to make profits.March Shipment Volumes Show a Significant Increase

The shipment data for March 2024 indicates a significant increase of about 82% compared to February of the same year, and a year-on-year growth of about 11% compared to March 2023. It is understood that the overall shipment tasks for March were relatively ideal, with all brands showing high shipment figures and a considerable increase in month-on-month shipment volumes.

Looking at individual motherboard brand manufacturers, the top eight are ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Colorful, Maxsun, Onda, Saint Flag, and Biostar, with shipment volumes increasing to varying degrees. Especially the manufacturers ranked in the top few positions have seen a significant increase in shipment volumes compared to the previous month. The ranking has not changed significantly, with Biostar returning to the eighth place, and Saint Flag replacing the previously seventh-ranked Meizu.

ASUS remains in the first place, with a large increase in month-on-month growth, and a significant gap between it and the second place, showing a clear leading advantage; the second place is Gigabyte, which has widened the gap with the leader but also has further distanced itself from the third place; the third place is MSI, with a gap that remains small compared to the fourth place, indicating a fierce competition; the fourth place is Colorful, with a month-on-month growth rate close to that of MSI, and the gap between the two remains minimal; the fifth place, Maxsun, is relatively stable and is expected not to change significantly in the near future; although Onda still holds the sixth place, the month-on-month growth is significant, with the shipment volume being several times that of the previous month; Saint Flag replaces Meizu in the seventh place; Biostar has returned to the eighth place after a month, with a very small gap in shipment volume compared to Saint Flag.

Compared to the same period last year, the increase in shipment volumes this year is more apparent, with the first half of March showing a more outstanding performance than the second half. The second quarter has now begun, and the expectations for offline sales among various motherboard brand manufacturers are generally not high.

Chinese Domestic PC Motherboard Brands Still Need to Work Hard

In the Chinese mainland PC motherboard market, ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte hold more than 60% of the market share, with market shares of 28.26%, 16.92%, and 16.66% respectively. The mainland Chinese brand Colorful is closely following the top three manufacturers, with a market share of 15.36%. Behind Colorful is the domestic brand Onda, with a market share of less than 10%. Other companies, such as Maxsun, have smaller enterprise scales, low brand influence, lower product prices, and not high profits, with market shares of less than 3%. Especially after the pandemic, the demand for low-end motherboards has been sluggish, making business even more difficult.

In addition to Colorful, Onda, and Maxsun, in recent years, with the increasing prominence of chip component supply chain security issues, more companies, especially CPU companies, have begun to develop their own PC motherboards to gain more autonomy. A typical representative is Loongson Technology.

At the end of 2023, Loongson released the latest CPU product 3A6000, and the computer motherboard that comes with it is also independently developed by Loongson Technology. In addition, most of the other components also come from domestic manufacturers, with memory and hard drives from Unisplendour and Dahua, respectively, and the case power supply from Aigo. Only the graphics card uses AMD's RX580 chip.

Loongson Technology's motherboard also integrates the company's independently developed 7A2000 bridge chip, which is used to control interfaces such as USB, audio, and network, and also integrates Loongson's self-developed GPU. That is to say, the 7A2000 bridge chip has GPU capabilities, and even without an external graphics card, this computer can still be used normally.

The integration between major motherboard brand manufacturers and CPU giants is very high, and the motherboard products launched are all in line with the performance and release pace of Intel or AMD's CPU products. Therefore, if Chinese domestic manufacturers want to promote PC motherboard products to a broader market, they must improve CPU performance and iteration speed.
